Packing of on-the-vine tomatoes has proven to be a difficult automation target. On the vine clusters present core complexities including fragile stem, highly variable cluster, grading and packout criteria, as well as human-like dexterity requirement that, historically, have kept premium on-the-vine cherry tomatoes packing manual. Truly Green Farms will demonstrate an integrated automation cell that combines food grade industrial robots, AI enhanced computer vision, and inline precision scales to sort and pack delicate greenhouse grown on-vine tomatoes at commercial throughput. The demonstration will run on a Truly Green Farms packhouse lane under normal production conditions and will generate traceability ready performance data for adoption decisions. Outcomes expected include throughput uplift, grading accuracy, shrink reduction, and workforce upskilling, aligned with CAAIN priorities in Robotics & Automation, Data-Driven Decision-Making, and adoption-focused validation.
